2nd Grade

I taught the 2nd graders about a new app today! It's a screen casting app called Viitle! I love Screen Chomp, however it is no longer available in the app store, and there are no easy sharing options. There are a few things I absolutely LOVE about Viitle. First, it limits the screen cast to 1 minute. I'm pretty sure the paid version of the app allows a longer recording time, but for our purposes, 1 minute is perfect. It forces the student to be mindful about what they plan to draw/write/record. They must plan to include all the necessary information, and it leaves no room to be playing around. Secondly, the sharing is so easy! The students can easily save their movie into the iPad's camera roll, or AirDrop it to my iPad... so cool! The kids totally love using AirDrop too, it's like magic!

Students were working on representing numbers (into the hundreds) in multiple ways: standard form, word form, picture form, expanded form, etc.

*Note: this is the first time the students used Vittle, so there might be some student errors, but we need to remember (and more importantly, show our students) that any road to success is paved with errors and mistakes, and all it means is that we will be better next time!

4th grade is still working really hard on their stop motion animations! Stay tuned - they will be posted as soon as they are completed!
