The 6th Graders had the awesome opportunity to participate in Egypt Day today! They attended different stations: art, language, math, and even got to feast like an Egyptian and share their Egypt songs! Click here to visit the Egypt Day channel on YouTube with all the students' Egypt Songs... and check out all their awesome costumes with our green screen video below:

I had the awesome opportunity to work with the 6th graders today, and review GarageBand! The students have written Egypt Songs - full of content about Ancient Egypt - and are going to record it in GarageBand. Their songs should be complete by next week, ready to share for Egypt Day on Oct. 13th!
Ms. Bonner made this super cool video (using iMovie on her iPhone) with some pictures and videos from our annual Color Run! I helped... a little... Ms. Bonner sure is tech savvy! I wanted to share her video with you! We will also play it on the Friday CCN Broadcast, so stay tuned! 3rd GradeToday was my first day with 3rd graders, so we learned all about Stop Motion Animation by watching the Prezi I made. They will be planning their own film next time! 6th GradeSince many of the 6th graders planned their Stop Motion Math videos last week, we started to film! We even had a few groups finish their animations! I was AMAZED at what they came up with in such a short amount of time! I won't post them yet - since we are going to put them into iMovie and add sound effects, music, and voice over... but here are some photos of students working on their projects, and a short video clip! Enjoy! Here is a sneak peek of some 6th grade filmers in action! Stay tuned for the finished products! I'm excited!
1st GradeToday was the first day of RESULTS for 1st and 6th graders... and it was so much fun! The first graders started their day with some Go Noodle (Pop See Ko!), which is always a blast! Then we talked about screen casting. I showed them a few YouTube examples: And the students worked on storyboarding their own math related stop-motion! The kids are really excited about this new adventure - and so am I! 6th GradeThe 6th graders were introduced to stop motion animation today. I showed them a Prezi I created showing TONS of awesome examples! I also showed them my Lego stop motion attempts. Some students started planning their animation! Click here to access the planner the students used. Then, the students shared their progress with the group (sorry the picture is so dark!). It's going to be a great year with these kiddos!
During Results this week, the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade students got to experience Word Clouds! Word Clouds are an image composed of words used in a particular text or subject, in which the size of each word indicates it's frequency or importance. There are many cool Word Cloud programs out there: Wordle, Tagxedo, and ABCya Word Cloud (which is what we used). Students brainstormed 10 (or more) key words about themselves and their lives. Younger students put these into the Word Cloud, and older students wrote an "All About Me" paragraph, focusing on those 10 words. Check out some of the student work below!
