They attended different stations: art, language, math, and even got to feast like an Egyptian and share their Egypt songs! I had the awesome opportunity to work with the 6th graders today, and review GarageBand! The students have written Egypt Songs - full of content about Ancient Egypt - and are going to record it in GarageBand. Their songs should be complete by next week, ready to share for Egypt Day on Oct. 13th!
3rd GradeToday was my first day with 3rd graders, so we learned all about Stop Motion Animation by watching the Prezi I made. They will be planning their own film next time! 6th GradeSince many of the 6th graders planned their Stop Motion Math videos last week, we started to film! We even had a few groups finish their animations! I was AMAZED at what they came up with in such a short amount of time! I won't post them yet - since we are going to put them into iMovie and add sound effects, music, and voice over... but here are some photos of students working on their projects, and a short video clip! Enjoy! Here is a sneak peek of some 6th grade filmers in action! Stay tuned for the finished products! I'm excited!
1st GradeToday was the first day of RESULTS for 1st and 6th graders... and it was so much fun! The first graders started their day with some Go Noodle (Pop See Ko!), which is always a blast! Then we talked about screen casting. I showed them a few YouTube examples: And the students worked on storyboarding their own math related stop-motion! The kids are really excited about this new adventure - and so am I! 6th GradeThe 6th graders were introduced to stop motion animation today. I showed them a Prezi I created showing TONS of awesome examples! I also showed them my Lego stop motion attempts. Some students started planning their animation! Click here to access the planner the students used. Then, the students shared their progress with the group (sorry the picture is so dark!). It's going to be a great year with these kiddos!

The 1st graders learned podcasts, and we even listened to a few examples, like: History Goes Bump Podcast, Current Events with an 8 Year Old, and The News to Amuse. We learned that podcasts can serve many different purposes: mostly to inform, to entertain, and to persuade. I then showed them the GarageBand app, and we learned about recording our voices. We completed a reading of a Spring Poem as our very first podcast. The students really love hearing their voices, as well as their classmates! They will be working on their OWN podcast during the next few weeks. Here are our Spring Poem Podcasts. Enjoy! The 6th graders learned how to plan their podcast. We listened to a few more examples of podcasts, and I showed them the Podcast Storyboard that I created. The students worked hard with their their groups to think of some creative ways to teach their listeners about Ancient China. Here are some pictures of them hard at work! I will be so excited to share them with you when they are done in a few weeks!
Today I worked with the 2nd grade and Mrs, Mitchell's 6th grade class. The 2nd graders completed their Word Clouds, and the 6th graders began their unit on Podcasting. We talked about what a podcast is, and what they're used for. I also played them a few examples of professional podcasts. Then, I gave a short tutorial on GarageBand and we completed a group podcast of a Spring poem. Check out all the student work below! Enjoy! Mrs. Little's Class - Word Clouds!
