Every Friday, I am invited into the 2nd grade classrooms to create math screencasts! This was my second week visiting, and the students are working on making their problem solving visible and clear. We are using a free app called Vittle on the iPads, and the kids really enjoy it. Each week, they get better and better! I had a 2nd grader come up to me and say, "I had a dream about Vittle last night!". I think that's so cool! Here are some photos of students at work, and some student work! The 2nd graders are currently working on explaining addition strategies - specifically the "Make a Ten" strategy. Students also tried to add in the Bar Model, however, we (the teachers), quickly noticed that it was difficult to fit all that math work onto one minute.
