I am so excited about our upcoming podcast projects! Each grade will be continuously working on a podcast project for our last 3 RESULTS visits. Each class is working on a different topic, but will have a completed podcast by March! The students worked together in groups of 2-3 to complete the "planning phase" of their podcasts. They worked on the content they'd like to cover, and some students actually practiced recording their voices! Some groups are even thinking about adding sound effects. I'm excited! Here are some photos of the kids working together to plan their podcasts:

This week, the remaining Digital Media Arts and Technology RESULTS students (Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5) were able to work on GarageBand on the iPads. We collaborated on a group recording of a winter poem, and then the students had time to work and experiment on GarageBand on their own! Choose a poem and listen below! Enjoy!
In RESULTS today, my Digital Media Art and Technology students were introduced to iPads. We worked on 3 different apps: 1. Eggy 100 HD - it's just like "fruit ninja", but for sight words! 2. Butterfly Math - students practice counting and simple addition 3. And some different letter/number tracing apps: iWriteWords, Little Writer, and Ollie's Handwriting & Phonics. *All of these apps have FREE versions! All the kids did really well! Our 1st and 6th graders were introduced to GarageBand today! Each class practiced recording their voices and combining different audio tracks to form one long track. We talked about the importance of speaking clearly with expression, to make our voices more pleasant to listen to. This is a skill that all students will need when producing their own Podcasts (coming soon!). Listen below to some winter poems we recorded! This was our first time using this technology, so it's a little raw and choppy at times, but will only improve with practice and time! Enjoy!
Today, the 3rd and 4th graders got a chance to work with Word Clouds! Here are the final products: Mr. Arizpe's Class Ms. Aring's ClassMs. Hamilton's ClassMs. Talamantez's Class Ms. Sutton's ClassMs. Ortiz's ClassDuring Results this week, the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade students got to experience Word Clouds! Word Clouds are an image composed of words used in a particular text or subject, in which the size of each word indicates it's frequency or importance. There are many cool Word Cloud programs out there: Wordle, Tagxedo, and ABCya Word Cloud (which is what we used). Students brainstormed 10 (or more) key words about themselves and their lives. Younger students put these into the Word Cloud, and older students wrote an "All About Me" paragraph, focusing on those 10 words. Check out some of the student work below!
