Mrs. Chanoit's 5th grade class watched a documentary called What Was Ours, and wrote letters to the film maker - Jordan Dresser - with their feelings they had after watching the film, along with questions to Jordan. We decided to film the students reading their letters (behind a green screen, of course), and send them to Jordan. Click here to watch their videos! Well done students!
Getting kids active during the school day helps with brain development, learning, and retention! Many of the teachers at Chula Vista Hills use Go Noodle to get kids moving throughout the day. We went live on February 13, 2017 to Mrs. Sutton's class to watch them participate in a Go Noodle activity! Please watch until the end... Mrs. Bangle has some helpful advice at the end of the video. Enjoy! We used Livestream to stream our 2017 Speech Contest! Please watch below! The themes for this year include: 4th grade: What does the phrase, "Fair isn't always equal" mean to you in your school? 5th grade: What does the phrase, "Fair isn't always equal" mean to you in your city? 6th grade: What does the phrase, "Fair isn't always equal" mean to you in your country? Ever wonder what goes on in your child's classroom during the day? Have you always wanted to be a "fly on the wall" in the classroom? Well, we have the solution for that! We have started going LIVE into select classrooms here on campus! With this segment, we take a sneak peek into Mrs. Wahlroos' Kindergarten class. She is sharing a read-aloud and talking about how feelings can change. Watch until the very end - Mrs. Bangle will give us some insightful strategies to help your read-aloud at home. Enjoy! Click here for Mrs. Ortiz's class! Click here for Mrs. Sutton's class! Click here for Mrs. Talamantez's class! I was lucky enough to visit all three 4th grade classrooms today (Mrs. Ortiz, Mrs. Sutton, and Mrs. T) to begin a new digital media project! All of the 4th graders have been learning about famous explorers, and they wrote a formal letter describing their journeys. The students located some images on the internet, saved them, and began an iMovie. They extended the length of the photo, added filters, adjusted the Ken Burn effect (if needed), and added a title. Tomorrow, we will be recording their letters audibly. They will read and record them into iMovie! So much fun! Here is a few photos of the students working hard to find images and add them into iMovie! More to come in the following days!
2nd GradeThe second graders practiced making their thinking visible using Vittle! They are getting really good at explaining their thinking! Today I challenged them to complete an addition problem (two digit + 1 digit), while including a strategy of their choice, and important key words. I was very impressed! Here are their Vittles!
